Biography

I am Carlos Maldonado, an artist from Iowa City, Iowa. My artistic journey has been defined by a dedication to plein air painting, primarily utilizing acrylic and gouache. With over two decades of artistic experience, I embarked on a full-time painting career in 2019. When I’m not painting en plein air, I channel my creativity into commissions within the sanctuary of my studio.

 

My muse lies in the ever-changing landscape and our profound connection to it. I aspire to transcend the ordinary, amplifying and intensifying the hues of our world while preserving the delicate interplay of light and shadow. My mission is to paint scenes that resonate with viewers, fostering a sense of unity with the environment and a profound appreciation for its beauty.
